Technical Installation
Nottingham College delivers a wide range of higher and further education media courses and has a phenomenal history in training exciting up-and-coming media professionals. It must do, because several members of our team were trained there! So it was a pleasure to return to a place of higher education that has been so important to CTRL.
Part of a recent project that saw the Nottingham College TV studio move out of their previous Adams Building premises and into the brand new campus at the City Hub. They took the opportunity to upgrade their city centre studios into a proper showpiece television studio environment. This process included replacing video and broadcast electronics that had served the students and staff well for many years, but was definitely showing its age with the fast pace of modern technology. Staff at the college contacted CTRL for assistance with the installation of their new professional-grade broadcast equipment.
CTRL technicians assisted with everything from cable installations and terminations (both 12G SDI video and Cat6 networking) right the way through to installing and configuring hardware solutions including Black Magic Design and Newtek Tricaster for video switching and routing, joined seamlessly with NDI devices from Kiloview and BirdDog.
The college students now have an amazing facility that uses cutting-edge video and broadcast technology, so they can seamlessly move into their chosen careers within the broadcasting industry.
